2024 Beauty Insights- 3rd Edition

The China Bureau of Statistics released data on retail sales of consumer goods in December. In December, the total retail sales of consumer goods was 4,355 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%; from January to December, the total retail sales of consumer goods was 47,149.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. Among them, in December, the total retail sales of cosmetics was 32.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%; from January to December, the total retail sales of cosmetics was 414.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.1%.

According to data from the General Administration of Customs, the China import volume of beauty cosmetics and toiletries in December 2023 was 8.51 billion yuan, and the import volume from January to December 2023 was 126.02 billion yuan.
